Was on 1J23 BHM INTL to Aberystwyth tonight we left Salop just about on time and made our way normally until a mile or so past Westbury and ground to a halt for 5 minutes and then proceeded to Welshpool in degraded mode arriving 17 late we left Welshpool normally but ground to a halt outside the overlap zone before Newtown loop for a few minutes. At Newtown the conductor announced that they were going to swap the two units over so the rear unit would then lead and asked everyone to get off whilst this was done in attempt to cure the ETCS problem.

Unfortunately I was not able to witness this as my partner was waiting for me and had to get to her Spanish class. Looking at real time trains it crossed the UP at Newtown instead of a Talerddig and carried on losing time.

Anybody got any further info on this?

If they was swapping the units then I would guess the front unit was having problems communicating with the balises/radio fault, either way it was probably a cab fault
