A few years ago when I did them for coverage as sadly there isn't any day rovers available for the branches south of Ipswich, it was a Saturday with a Network Railcard which reduced the prices.

Pretty sure it was London - Harwich Town, Colchester - Clacton, Thorpe Le Soken - Walton on the Naze, Colchester - Sudbury, Witton - Braintree, Shenfield - Southend, Wickford - Southminster.

The easiest thing with Northern is making use of their £10 rover tickets offer, you might need to ask nicely for someone to send you some newspaper vouchers. Useful to cover those lines not normally inside day rover areas.
