I’m currently taking my first ever trip on this line. I’m curious that all alighting and boarding seems to be done through one single door at the front of the train at intermediate stations, all of which so far seem long enough for two coaches. Why is this?

Doh - since realised we coupled to another unit enroute, without me noticing! Makes sense now. Couldn’t find a way to delete this pointless thread…

2 x 2 car Class 156 + 158 combination on the afternoon working into Whitby? Presume it's the shortish platforms at Kildale and Commondale that cause the issue?

Congratulations on being able to get to Whitby today, the morning and lunchtime services were affected by flooding between Danby and Lealholm. The train you were on is always 4 coaches as it forms the school train from Whitby.
