I'm only posting this as I've often seen the catering on Iarnród Éireann/NI Railways Enterprise service given a lot of flak across various fora and I think it would be a refreshing change to see something positive about this oft lambasted service.
After a day in Dublin using the fantastically cheap £32 First Plus web fare from Béal Feirste, I decided to get a bite to eat on the return journey.
I chose a chicken fillet burger with salad and spuds which turned out to be absolutely excellent. Fresh, crisp salad with nicely crunchy croutons, mustard dressing, beautifully moist chicken fillet in a well-seasoned crispy crumb and freshly toasted bap, with potato pieces to accompany. The only minor grumble is the spuds weren't the crispy fare advertised but were still light and floury.
All in, I'd say this is the best train meal I've had since the days of GNER. Top marks go to Trax, whom I believe handle the catering on Enterprise.
