The English Riviera Express from Ely to Kingswear on Sat 08/7/2026 ran into a bit of bother near Westbury.
After being delayed by sheep on the line in the Bedwyn area, it was booked to run via the Westbury avoider but was then diverted into Westbury station following reports of smoke. The rear loco 47805 was examined by the fire brigade who were seen pointing a thermal camera at one of the bogies. 47805 was removed from the train and put into the Patney siding at Westbury. The railtour continued with 47810.
For the return journey, 57003 ran light from Southall and was attached to the front of the train at Norton Fitzwarren.
