From 16th to 22nd between plymouth/liskared and gunnislake there is engineering works. Does anyone know what they are doing? Must be something extensive for a week. Can't see, to find any info on any official websites, merely detailing service changes.

Anyone know what is going on here?

I picked up a timetable for the disruption in Devon / Cornwall this week at Paddington a few weeks ago - they're the traditional pocket-sized stapled books in pink and grey stripes. The work being done (according to the timetable's introduction) is:
- Laying new track in several areas;
- Repairing and waterproofing Coldrennick Viaduct (near Menheniot station);
- Ongoing refurbishment of the Royal Albert Bridge.

Further to this, the booklet also states that the work is being carried out this week to 'minimise disruption to journeys for our passengers'.

Waterproofing work on bridges requires full track removal so i imagine other work is being done while this takes place.

Its half term which in Cornwall means nobody uses the trains. I think i seen somewhere in February half term last year FGW carried only 25% of their normal passenger numbers in Conrwall. Therefore I'd say they are minimising disruption for the other 75% of passengers.

aye- not as if Cornwall is a big holiday destination in February, certainly compared to half terms in warmer parts of the year!
