I'm looking to book a ticket from Valencia to Madrid in february on a weekend. I wouldn't book in the UK on a weekend without checking first, but can't find details for that far ahead in Spain. Are there often engineering works on a Saturday on the Valencia - madrid line does anyone know? I could wait but the price would probably jump up as it's on a Saturday.
Cheers
Having travelled many times in Spain, I have never ever experienced UK style engineering works. The RENFE web site will provide travel advisories reflecting long terms engineering works which alter train times. But if you buy an advanced purchase, you have a seat on train which will run.
I've done AVE runs from Madrid to Barcelona, Malaga and Seville. In all instances, the service was punctual, the trains are comfy. Tickets generally go on sale two months prior to the date of travel. Expect to pay 32 for an advance purchase ticket from Valencia to Madrid, which you can print ahead of time and bring with you.
