Engineering works and rerouting

I've been looking at rail journeys between Brighton and the Eastleigh area. For the next 2 weekends at least there seems to be some rail replacement especially in the area between Littlehampton and Brighton.

The national rail site mostly suggests more expensive tickets going brighton/clapham junction/eastleigh . Some of these involve up to 4 journeys. Some train journeys are showing, but this doesn't match with the engineering notes - I have a feeling the system is NOT up to date wrt the works (this has happened regularly it seems over the last few months).

In such cases is a brighton-eastleigh ticket normally routed along the south coast typically valid via clapham junction too? Or does one need to buy the more expensive ticket to avoid a 3-3.5 hr journey time with multiple segments and bus replacements?

Just wondered - I'm assuming not. I may just change my plans instead...

I would have thought asking Southern on twitter if you can use a Route Barnham ticket via Three Bridges and Pulborough to avoid the bus would be worth it. NRE says its not valid, but you'd have to look at the maps to know why.

My conclusion was that the best ticket choice was Brighton-Southampton airport, as there's a '00700 not via London' route option which appears to allow both routings (also shown by nat rail end) even though brighton- cfr/esl/win/sou only have the all routes at ££++ (or a specific clapham/barnham route). Ugh pricing!

In the case of two specifically routed fares, the more expensive one is automatically valid on the cheaper route, by virtue of a zero fare change of route excess.
