Engineering team member Doncaster.

Hey all,

I have applied for a role of Engineering team member for Doncaster with DB Schenker.
Happy to report DBS have got back to me and sent a test pack for the test day along with a letter explaining all i need to know.
Now, the letter says to concentrate on tests 2 ,4 and 5 despite the test paper being 8 tests long, so dose that mean not to bother with the rest of it or do take note, practice but my test on the day be more to do with the ones they have suggested i ponder over??

Also, sounds bad but i have no info to go on other than in my mind id be a train mechanic on the engines mainly, so what dose a Engineering team member actually do as a job?

If you do the lot then they may look at it as someone who doesn't follow instructions.
As in ''you were told too fix those two trains not those over there which are gonna be scrapped''.

Yeah i suppose so then, my test will be between 2 and 3 hours long, well i says test i think there is more to it than those because each is 3 min long haha

Have to agree buddy. Just do the parts of the practice material they have specified you need to do, if you struggle with any of it do some revision (bbc bitesize is a good site for maths). When you sit the assessments listen to what they are telling you and make sure you read the questions correctly, particularly with the verbal comprehension test! Good luck mate oh yea and do your research on the company.

Well i passed the tests witb relative ease, had interveiw in the afternoon and ill find out between 2 and 10 days time lol bit of a gap.
Was told just over 110 went for the job only 6 to sit tests all 6 passed all 6 had interveiws. Stiff competition too with guys from within DBSr from freighliner and wabtec. I was the total outsider haha the wild card!

The wild card eh lol, they must see something in you for you to get to the stage you have.
I was offered the job yesterday for groundstaff pending the medical I now need to do, it only took 6 days for them to get back to me which I thought was pretty quick compared to what I have heard from other people's experiences on here. Looking forward to getting that contract in my hands now
