Not really, although a hailstorm caused a crash and subsequent closure of the A30 this morning at Camborne.

Do you mean somebody was driving too fast for the prevailing conditions and crashed, meaning its their fault!
Or did a hailstone get inside the car and pull the steering wheel causing the crash?

People are happier to see someone sacked rather than something proper done to avoid it again in the future.

That someone needs the skills he/she has to organise closures properly so the work is carried out effectively and efficiently. Not a 2 day 'job done' attitude then over run and screwing up the timetable.

Given that there is to be an inquiry into Kings Cross, will there be one on Paddington? Are these things routinely held after works anyway? In IT projects I've worked on there has often been a lessons learnt review afterwards.

What exactly is going on between Reading and Paddington?
There seems to have been an awful lot of disruption this year. Is it dodgy / old signalling that needs to be replaced at some point or just a combination of different things?

There's a lot of preparatory work for Crossrail.

Still the farce goes on. My m8 was supposed to travel to Heathrow via the express but had to use the tube instead.

WERE they NR employees, or contractors? but whatever, they must have broken every rule in the book! so not a 'farce' as such.

Sounds like an accident that could of been avoided if the engineers were not put under immense pressure to complete the work in such a short space of time, handing back the possessions and reopening lines. It will be interesting to see what the RAIB make of this.

Anyone know why the 20:15 Paddington to Reading stopper was only 2 cars last night? 20:12 Heathrow Connect before it had been cancelled so it was absolutely rammed and left people behind at Ealing Broadway.

It's not uncommon for the stopper to be only 2 cars. Just bad luck that the cancelled Connect compounded the problem.
