Back in the days of steam, what sort of equipment would be used for turning tyres to rectify any issues without sending the engine all the way to the Works to have it done? Would it be done at the Sheds, and if so, where would the equipment be located? What would be the process of turning the tyres?

The main ‘A’ sheds in a division would have had a Wheel Shop with a tyre turning lathe. Locos from the smaller sheds in the area would go there for attention if they were not due for Works.
