Köln Hauptbahnhof

as Hauptbahnhoff is the 'correct' suffix of Hbf, the suffix is ignored

so

Newcastle

maybe a further clarification on the rules to see if me or Paul played the correct move?

So in that case would you ignore the "suffix" in Southampton Central? It's a suffix with the same meaning.

Was just wanting confirmation yesterday, its use does seem to be more common than say 'Central', 'Exchange' etc etc. Maybe if it was written here as Hautbahnhof rather than HBF may look a little better? There was an answer to my question of clarification about the HBf which said no. Maybe if the OP can give a full clarification of suffixes?
