EN 50237 Stuttgart to Budapest 6th August 2025

I've booked a couchette for my family on this service which was at 2030, arriving into budapest at 0919 and i have just received an email stating it has been changed or removed and no further information.
I arrive in Stuttgart at 1704, having travelled from Leeds that day and have onward travel from Budapest at 1150 to serbia. Can anyone help as I can't find a suitable alternative

There is planed engineering work East of Rosenheim on the Munich-Salzburg Main Line, hence, this train is diverted via Kufstein.

According to ÖBB timetable for August 6:
Train EN 50237 will depart Stuttgart at 17:30 and arrive in Budapest-Kelenföld at 10:26. You will have to take the metro between Kelenföld and Nyugati.

I must say your connection at Stuttgart is super tight, so I'd recommend to look into a Plan B.

I'm not sure what is going to happen that day. The timetable information is not consistent yet.
The direct carriages Stuttgart-Budapest seem to have disappeared from ÖBB and DB timetables.
ÖBB (tickets.oebb.at, fahrplan.oebb.at, nightjet.com) say the night train to Zagreb/Venice leaves Stuttgart at 17:30. DB say 18:18.
Edit: ÖBB say Stuttgart 17:30-Kelenföld 10:26 (they don't seem to regard Kelenföld as part of the Budapest meta station...)
MÁV (jegy.mav.hu) say the night train to Budapest (50237) leaves at 17:30 and arrives in Budapest Kelenföld at 10:36 (not to Keleti apparently).
So my best guess is that the night train will still run, but will leave earlier (exact time to confirm) and arrive later.
You could call ÖBB (+43 5 1717) and ask them what's happening. It wouldn't be the first time that a train disappears from the timetable, only to return a few days later.

I like sleeper trains but I keep seeing things on this forum that would make me rather wary of building a trip on a Nightjet service into a holiday.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to leave it a few days and see if it reappears. The connection is tight but i have an interrail pass. If they cancel it, could i get a hotel in salzburg or somewhere paid for by OBB and continue my journey the next day.

I do not think this train is getting cancelled (meaning it doesn't run at all).
Your bigger issue is the short connection time in Stuttgart. If you miss that train in Stuttgart, I doubt that ÖBB is going to help you immediately in securing a hotel room. There is no ÖBB counter in Stuttgart. DB InfraGO runs an information counter at Stuttgart. DB InfraGO will point you towards ICE train 611 Stuttgart-Munich to catch the Stuttgart-Budapest train in Augsburg.
If your train is cancelled totally, you won't receive a free hotel room from DB InfraGO or ÖBB, as they are alternatives (e.g. the Hamburg-Nürnberg-Vienna Nightjet).

You can take the revised times as definite - the warning about possible engineering works (which was there for some weeks) has disappeared.
Post #6 gives the alternative, but it would be worth speaking to onboard staff after Karlsruhe as they may be able to hold the connection (237 is generously timed, and allows for using the old route to Ulm.)

also, fortunately, Budapest-Szeged-Subotica is possible later in the day. I would have fallback plans for where you’d spend the night.
