EMT Senior Conductor

Hi all, been on here a while but this is my first post....
Has anyone that applied for the senior conductor jobs at EMT heard anything yet. Closing date was the 14th March but from experience these things can take a very very long time! Just curious. Thanks in advance

I applied for the Senior Conductor positions at Derby and Nottingham but have also not heard anything yet.

Its an old BR job title for a guard that ex Central Trains TOCs and a few others still use.

Having a quick look at the emails you get back from EMT when emailing them to apply for a position it says "If you are applying for a live vacancy and have not heard back from us in
14 days then your application has been unsuccessful on this ocassion."
as unfortunately blunt that statement I assume that is the case

I have heard back from them in that I had my application confirmed, but I do not believe that the statement about the 14 days is 100% accurate, as I have applied for another job with them for which I am ideally suited in skills and experience, and I have not heard about that one either.

Would prefer the Senior Conductor post though...

When I was on the Southern (30 years ago) the guards were renamed Senior Conductors..

that's what I thought at first but the last position I applied for with EMT took over a month to tell me I had been successful in getting to the next stage so fingers crossed. I was just curious if anybody had a successful/not successful reply yet. So hopefully no news is good news.

That's how I read the message from EMT too. Optimistic, me!! There's a job that closes on March 21st that is still on their website, so that doesn't show much urgency on their part, and I am not saying that to be in any way critical...

By chance where these the positions where they where recruiting multiple depots a while ago? (Norwich, Nottingham and others?)

I'd imagine so. First advertised September 2013, re-advertised March 2014.

The recruitment for these roles has left quite a lot to be desired (even by railway standards!). I gave up and moved onto other TOCs which proved much more fruitful.

Ahh well as it happens I took a stab at the march re-advertisement and the assessment day for these where the 2nd and 3rd of April (they are still taking their time in getting back to the people who got to this point apparently)

i assume when you say changing TOCs proved to be fruitful you managed to get a position some place at least?

Yeah, I passed the interviews with another TOC and am on hold. EMT haven't said anything to me since the group assessment & interview in October, despite me chasing it (hence why I gave up).

I remember that interview, lol, getting practice material for the next stage at the end of it, and being told to make sure I practice it constantly! After a few weeks of working at it, I twigged onto the fact that the assessment was never going to happen.

Funnily enough, I still have the practice material, just in case they remember me one day!
