EMT Senior Conductor Assessment Invite?

So, I'm not one for posting things to often, but I feel this is a good reason here. So i applied for a Senior conductor position with EMT in Norwich.

by some act of magic I have been invited to their assessment center at Nottingham. It says to expect SCAT and RAAT tests, though I have seen these put out a few times here, I have no idea whats so ever what they are. perhaps you fellows have some tips or tricks on what to expect from these.

It also mentions to expect other group exercises as well as a "competency based interview" any of you have knowledge of what to expect from these?

Hi you can download the group boarden tests which include the scaat tests as well, will post the link in a little while unless someone does it before me, I would suggest you practice practice practice when you download these tests, the instructions are included in the download link....

For your CBI you will prob need to give answers to questions like, GIVE AN EXAMPLE WHEN YOUVE WORKED ALONE, GIVE AN EXAMPLE WHEN YOUVE LEARNT SOMETHING NEW, GIVE AN EXAMPLE WHEN YOUVE WORKED AS PART OF A TEAM, GIVE AN EXAMPLE WHEN YOUVE HAD TO DEAL WITH A DIFFICULT SITUATION/PEOPLE....

them kinda questions, and learn about the company too, ie names of directors, routes, stations served, awards, parent company, types of units/trains, you get the picture....

check this out the thread is group bourdon tool on this forum......your scat/dots will prob be done on paper, if there is one piece of advice I would say when doing dots/scat is be consistance, ie if you do 8 rows on page 1 make sure its 8 on the next 4 pages, get a rythmn going, what you dont want is 12 rows on completed on page 1 and only 4 rows done on page 5, that shows loss of concentration, so dont rush it, be consistent and keep errors down to absolute minimum or zero.....good luck...

Hi there, and well done on making it to the assessments!

I attended an EMT Senior Conductor assessment day back in October, and sat the group exercises and a Line Manager's Interview.

For the group exercises, we were split into teams of about 7 people and had to prepare a presentation using only pictures about the different types of passengers that travel on EMT services. We then had to present our presentation to the other teams.
As you'd expect, you'll be marked on how you work as a team.

The Line Manager interview was quite literally an in-depth grilling about past experiences with customer services, dealing with conflict along with some hypothetical situation questions such as "How would you ensure that the train can depart on time?" and "What would you do if walking through the train, you notice lots of rubbish lying around?"

Unfortunately, I never heard back from the interview and never sat the pyschometric tests, which were to be sat on a different day, so I can't give you any experiences of them.

Well guys a thank you very much for all the advice and suggestions! really helps to hear it all from different people i have to say, so now i have a long weekend of looking at differnt shapes on a computer screen!
