Apologies if this has been covered before, but on the East Midlands Trains Red Dot Day promotion is the £10 ticket basically a rover where you can travel anywhere at will, or do you need to specify a destination, eg London, Norwich, and just make a out and back journey there?

Am thinking of the East Mids Parkway one on 30th Jan.

You can travel anywhere on the EMT network. The only restriction being you have to start you journey at East Midlands Parkway

Excellent, thanks. Let's hope the weather has improved by then.

you can use it at anytime no restriction on time, whatever you do dont put it in any ticket machines, most wont let you pass and it may even take your ticket, just show it to the person on the gate and theyll let you through

As the next Red Dot Day falls on a Saturday there are no peak restrictions. Ticket has to be bought from East Midlands Parkway but journey can be started anywhere. At least we did that during last summers promo.

The Sheffield Red Dot Day held on Wednesday 30th December was good apart from the miserable dull day and heavy rain!
Even though it was midweek, being during the holiday period between Christmas and New year, there were no restrictions. It was good to be able to travel on any train from St Pancras during the evening peak times.

I travelled from Hucknall(Notts) to Sheffield with a single to buy my Red Dot Ticket and then travelled down to London returning to Hucknall via Nottingham.
Can you only buy Red Dot Tickets on the actual day or can they be purchased in advance from East Midlands Parkway?
I would quite like to go to Norwich for the day on a fairly early train from Nottingham and it would be good if I could begin my journey from Hucknall.
