EMT PDF Timetable

Now, their weekday and Sunday timetable is fine but exactly what were they thinking with the current Saturday timetable PDF?

It does not print in a legible manner, you cannot follow over to the far side of the page on screen.

Looking at the printed version in front of me, my suspicion was that it was supposed to be designed in the same format as the regional pocket timetables (credit-card sized), however someone managed to mess up the cover and it now comes out the same size as one-third A4, hence why it looks awkward.

EMT's website is awful. They focus too much on attracting people to book online / use the best fare finder / join their 'MyJourneys' thing / make their own timetable. That leaves finding PDF timetables, station information etc a pain. I think the idea of separating the weekday / weekend MML timetables was a good idea, but in reality they messed it up!

I'm with you on that MattE2010 - their website is poor, especially when compared to other TOCs. I still make a point of picking up paper timetables for EMT from the station, as it's quicker than finding them on the website.

I don't like the dark grey background, either. It's far too drab when coupled with the dark blue.

Indeed, after Hull Trains revamped theirs in May, and FCC did up theirs in winter, EMT now has the 'honour' of owning the worst TOC website IMO.

Ah that's be the standard text used in typesetting to try things out without actually having the final text to hand. Usually of course it's replaced by the correct text...

That's Lorem Ipsum, used as a placeholder by printers/typesetters (or, as in this case, a web designer) to see what a page would look like with text, before the text content has actually been written. Although quite what that page is doing on their live site is another matter.

Sadly the same could be said of a few TOCs.

Whilst I appreciate that I'm not a "typical" user of these websites, I find that too often the sites are full of suggestions that I book journeys or that I visit some town that the TOC serves ("take a trip to fascinating Fulchester this weekend for the annual ferret race") - it'd make things easier if the PDFs were easily available on the front page, rather than scouting around to find one.

Okay, a lot of people just want to know the "A to B" times, and not everyone can "read" a timetable, but I think that the PDFs should be better shown on a number of TOC websites.
