Arrived at St Pancras tonight with my 1st Advance in hand, ready to catch the 2200 which is booked an HST. At the last minute, the 2200 becomes a 5-car Meridian.

Question 1 - why? there are loads of HSTs parked up just outside London!

Question 2- First Class is now full of Standard Class passengers. I don't see how they can possibly move but then I'm sure there are First Class passengers standing. Additionally, I have thusfar received no First Class service. Am I entitled to a refund?

Go see the tm to get your ticket endorsed, you'll then be able to claim.

Looks like there was some disruption earlier on, so they might have stepped up a train so you left on time.

Still no ticket check nor announcement besides "take a seat in relevant accommodation" and "now arriving at Luton".

It's really not very good all this, hate to sound stuck up but when I pay for First Class I expect First Class - but when I'm the only person I see with a First Class ticket sitting in First Class... well, it isn't First Class!

EDIT: There are 3 customer hosts in the crew bit at the end of First.

EDIT2: There seems to have been a cancellation earlier in the day?

Could be a swap for set positioning reasons, because of earlier disruption/cancellations EMT may need a meridian in Nottingham for the morning, for a service which is booked to be a meridian, not much good to you and your fellow passengers at the moment though.

Shouldnt these be done without distruption to passenger, e.g. sending 2 Meridians? Or sending one up overnight?

There are plenty of Meridians spare on a Saturday IIRC?

They're based at Derby though, it'd put one out of position for tomorrow.

Whatever the reasons behind it, they should still do some announcements

No announcement besidess "take a seat anywhere in relevant accommodation" , no personal service whatsever...

Literally as I typed that somebody in uniform just walked the length of First in Coach D (composite coach). Not really 'service' though.

As 91107 says the sets have to be in position for the morning, otherwise it has a knock on effect tomorrow, it could be they would not have had enough HSTs in London for the morning if they had sent your train with one?? Only EMT can answer that for you

E-mail sent. Still no personal contact for me to ask about getting an endorsement.

I've just found on the table an upturned mat with the word "STANDARD" in the FAINTEST green handwriting. FML.
