I have no idea

I gather that 43074 is going to be re-painted but I don't know whether the rest of the stock will as it is fairly fresh paint.

As for refurb, again, it is fairly recently refurbed

NL05 set includes:
40741 TRFB
41062 TFD
41154 TFD
42123 TS
42205 TS
42210 TS
42327 TS
44073 TGS

There is another MK3 that has been transferred from EMT to make a full 2+9 but I do not know which one it is

An EMT set has been hired to EC for some time, they have now decided to keep it hence the debranding.

EC use MTUs
EMT use Paxmans
EC are currently hiring out a HST to XC for summer.

No sense is made here! Apart from
The fact EMT have a large surplus of HSTs.

That's what I've read elsewhere.

If not how will this new set affect ECs ability to provide eureka catering?

Will the different engine cause issues?

Nope. It still allows the train to move. No problems there.

Im sure the engineers at EC are clever enough to be able to do basic jobs on a VP185.

East coast branding will look wrong on this livery.I thought only mk4s were having alterations for catering. I hope stagecoach win east coast

The decision to keep it was made many months ago (contract details took a little longer), and the transfer is set to take place on the 1st May which is the day after the end of the Stagecoach financial year.

The set will (eventually) be painted in East Coast colours and will be maintained at Neville Hill by EMT. This solves any problems about technical knowledge on VP185's. It also means that if a power car stops for exam seperate from the set, an EMT liveried power car will be put out in its place.

By East Coast livery, do you mean the new East Coast livery or rebranded NXEC livery? Be interesting to see which it gets..

As for Stagecoach getting EC, since they've already got EMT and a 49% (or is it 51%) share in Virgin WC I think it's unlikely..

As it will require a full repaint (or re-vinyl) to cover the EMT livery I would guess it would be the new East Coast livery........ but you never know.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Stagecoach getting the East Coast Franchise (in fact I think they are unlikely to get it while they have a 49% stake in WC). But to clarify things, the HST maintenance will be contracted to EMT for East Coast

EMT HSTs have EMTs wifi fitted

EMT have a different version of Wi-Fi fitted to the HST. This equipment will be removed before transfer.

Oh really! I have only found 4 HST diagrams on XCs journey planner so far, makes me wonder why they don't just use the 5th set and have all 5 working 1 day each week instead of a hire in. Any idea on what working it is likely to form?

Hi everyone, it's my first post so be gentle! I work at N/L and as far as i'm aware the set won't be maintained at N/L. I've been told it is due to be heading to Kilmarnock shortly for some sort of work done but I'm not sure what. I've heard the wifi will be replaced with East Coasts version as with alot of other stuff it is non standard.

I wonder if it will have a new engine fitted after all as aren't EMT required to replace all the engines in the HSTs by the end of the franchise anyway?

They're required to install VP185s in all their power cars, which I believe still leaves 43089 which blew its Valenta last year.

It won't have a new engine fitted, at least not at Kilmarnock!

And what would be the point?

Thanks Blindtraveller. I think powerpoints, remodelled buffet and relivery will be the work done but that's just my own opinion, I doubt it will be a full refurb. I've heard things being said about the p/c's engines but I'm not sure what will be done. Personally I think it would make sense to re-engine them but I dunno.

Why would it make sense to re-engine them?! From one non-standard engine to another?

Welcome to the forum btw shedman, and that post wasn't just aimed at you, but your post just happened to be there :P

Yeah, the 2 p/c's with the set are staying with EC so to re-engine then to MTU would make more sense.
