EMT Class 158 Diagrams

What iam intreeged to find out is how i would be able to work out is how the cycle works as to what unit will be on the Journeys i intend to travel on in order to plan my East Anglia Trip / Bash.

To put it in another context i whant to be able to travel on :-

21.37 Liverpool Lime St -Nottingham, So i would like to try and figure out what unit this will or may be by follwing the cycle over a period of the next two to three weeks.

The Same for the 0504 Nottingham-Norwich


I would like to try and avoid it being an ex CT 158 as i would rather it be an ex TPE or aphaline 158 as there is no way i would be willing to travel in such awfull conditions for three hours and then another three hours to Norwich.

Don't have the diagrams on me, but on general this information isn't released to the public. You'll be able to tell what runs a unit will do in a day, but unless you have further information (gen and sightings) you won't be able to guarantee a specific train.

Even if you could work out where things are supposed to be one day to the next, this quite commonly changes due to faults and delays and cancellations.

Simply put, you won't know during the day. All you can be assured of is it should be a 158.

as far as I know, it really depends on where the trains are parked and whether they need repairs / scheduled maintenence / cleaning and so on, and now, where they end up (mostly Eastcroft) but sometimes Etches Park. You do notice patterns sometimes, but this is usually coinsidence.

Aye..158865 turned up Last night on the 20.05 WID-Liverpool now i notice that quite often either a number up or a number down ie..864 or 866 will turn up the next day.

that's coinsidence. EMT wouldn't bother with 'upping' or 'downing' the unit numbers by a figure per day. They come out as required. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

So in the case of East Anglia Bash it is a Case of going via London which is more expensive or Take Pot Luck as to what turns up on the day.

look, EMT's 158s aint that bad, I will admit that the CT ones do not seem to have very good padding on the seats, but if you want to spend extra going somewhere else to avoid the risk of a unit which isn't your favourite train, be my guest

Although technically the units work to diagrams, in the real world i'm afraid it's a case of the 158's with the fewest faults get chucked out on the road, and even then it's a popular pastime for the op's manager to have a bit of a shuffle during the day.
