EMT 158 Aircon

Realistically speaking, given I'm getting zero joy from EMTs customer services - what method stands most chance of getting something done with the failing Aircon on he EMT 158s - It's getting to be almost daily that I'm getting on a unit with a broken Aircon - roll on winter and we'll have the same re heating.

On my recent journey from Norwich to Manchester I travelled on a EMT 158 that did not have working Air-Con lucky for me the guard on that service had opened the hopper windows meaning that it was not that hot in the end. And getting to towards my destination of Manchester it started to get quite cold onboard!
I do wonder what would have happened if the 158s had been built without hopper windows, surely the problem would not exist today with the TOC/ROSCOs having had to do something about it and spend money. However with the hopper windows being available could it have seen as a opportunity to get out of having to pay for a better quality Air-Con system to have to be fitted? And as a result it is the customers who have to pay the price.

Yes let's, continue... It's flippin annoying to have to suffer the heat or the chill blast from the window when the Aircon isn't working

There is a foolproof solution - a full replacement system. Costly, though.

On the contary im with Modern Railways Alan Warmesley said that having sealed Windows encourages the maintenance people to prioritise fixing it.

When I got to Piccadilly today on the 1147 from Nottingham I realised I was in the only coach which (by then) didn't have the windows open. And it wasn't even particularly warm today.

Perhaps they should borrow a couple of their colleagues from Salisbury, who seem to know a bit about keeping 158s in good condition.
