EMR have been using social media recently to tease that something new is coming.

After much speculation about refurbished 360s, restored services and cleaner trains all has now been revealed earlier today at Nottingham Station.

I personally think the marketing gimmicks could do with being cut tillthe service improves.

I'm sure that will make people feel a whole lot better when their 360 breaks down. Again. :rolleyes::{

Great view of the Nottingham gateline. Not sure what that is in the foreground, though!

Apart from the weird purple creature, what was revealed? Its name, according to the adjacent poster, is Miles: is this to do with a loyalty card scheme or something like that?

I agree - would be helpful if the OP could say what exactly was revealed today as it isn’t clear.

I have never been a fan of 'Miles'. Standing in a threatening 'they shall not dare to pass' pose just in front of a barrier line sends out all the wrong messages.

Miles has been in some social media and TV adverts, it was discussed somewhere on this forum before.

I can’t see anything on the social media channels.

The Miles mascot has been around for a while. It was pictured with a newspaper with the headline “something new is coming” (to do with the new first class menu), but that was back in October.

I have no issue with Miles. It would be nice if the "something new" were additional capacity of the equivalent we had before the HST's went.

It was nothing new. Just a statue if Miles was unveiled by a young child. Given the hype generated it was a big anti climax.

Maybe they should've named him Miles-19 and stuck a mask on him, that should sort the overcrowding out

Are more than a reasonable amount of 360's failing on the Corby-St Pancras service, I do not use the service, hence no knowledge.
What I do know are that the 360's were well used before coming to the MML and definitely not something new.
The East Midlands services always seem to be the forgotten line regarding upgrades etc, anyone old enough to remember The Central?
It must be awful for Kettering and Wellingborough commuters going from HST and Meridian's to these 360 sets for their journey to work, I don't suppose the fare's have gone down to reflect the drop in quality of service either.
OK, I accept the 170's were new and also The Meridian's, but let us not forget we also lost our creme de la creme station in London to Europe, so "Something New on East Midlands" is long overdue.

I’m pleased to inform you that St Pancras station is still located in London. ;)

Funny how we have a current thread on ticket offices possibly being closed to reduce costs...

Meanwhile, TOCs currently on government life-support can waste (and yes it is a waste) money coming up with a frankly cursed "mascot" and an ill-thought-out guerrilla marketing campaign.

Sorry if I'm hurting the feelings of a non-existent character, but it reminds me of that Partick Thistle mascot from a few years ago. The key difference being that the Partick Thistle one was designed (by Turner prize-nominated artist David Shrigley) deliberately to look a bit weird.

By the time you've walked from the tube to the country end of platforms 1 to 4 you start to wonder....

Just think of it as a shopping centre with a railway running into it.

I can guarantee I’ve walked from the Pret behind the gateline to the country end of the platforms quicker then anyone else on here ;).

I thought that as well!

Maybe it's a way to scare children into behaving on trains :D

To ensure I understand correctly, is it really as simple as the so-called 'something new' being a purple mascot statue? Nothing more than that?

That mascot figure would look better in my eyes if it didn't have crossed arms.

Arms down the side of the body would be more welcoming & relaxed

The memsahib has advised the comment suggested by her EMR colleagues is that Miles reminds them of a nght club bouncer "Your names not down, you're not coming in!"

Looking at that stance he would fit in at Blackpool North
