Another message, this time about 158785 (and the next unit going in for refurb). A schedule has been created for 785 to return, this time its scheduled to return straight Eastcroft instead of via Derby Etches - https://live.rail-record.co.uk/train.php/?c=K64419&d=2026-04-01 - with the schedule for the next unit to be sent out also made, also direct from Eastcroft - https://live.rail-record.co.uk/train.php/?c=K64418&d=2026-04-01 - and time know what the unit going out will be?
158863 is the next unit to go to Bristol for refurbishment

Meanwhile, after a couple of apparently unsuccessful attempts to run the first refurbed 360, 107 on overnight test runs Kettering - Corby -St Pancras and back, it's now gone to Bedford Caudwell.
Does that give a clue to what's wrong with it? Rather than going to Northampton...

It's not been used in anger in over a year, so may have some gremlins to over come. Could be batteries, transformer or traction issues. Or just a maintenance catch up.
Could just be heading there for a service or maybe the launch/ press event.

360107 now sunning itself (9/4/26) on the back road at Kettering stock sidings with no trace of having been used in passenger service yet.

Wales (sometimes in England), thanks for replying!
Local Mp's have posted on Facebook, pictures of the refurb. Invited today to look at it.

This is the quote.

Mohammad Yasin MP for Bedford and Kempston:
It was a pleasure to be invited by EMR alongside Gen Kitchen MP (Wellingborough & Rushden) to view the refurbishment of the Class 360 trains serving the Corby–London (Luton Airport Express) route
This long-awaited visit gave a great insight into the £27.6 million upgrade programme, focused on improving comfort and modernising the passenger experience. Highlights include:
* New 2+2 seating (mix of airline & bay styles)
* Expanded luggage storage – ideal for airport travellers
* Charging points and upgraded passenger information systems
* Enhanced onboard CCTV for added safety
The refurbished fleet is a significant step forward for commuters and those travelling to and from Luton Airport.
Thank you to EMR for hosting and showcasing these improvements at Kettering Station.

Very smart. There remains a touch of irony of those seats being used as First Class on SWR though and Standard Class on EMR.

Massive improvement, 3+2 all gone! The lighting fixtures seem different, not as diffused as before, hope these would not be too bright.

Knew there would be a photo op with the local MP ha ha.

The Transport Sec probably will show up for the refurb'd 360's first service into St Pancras, perfect for arriving in front of the media & cameras and a little waffle about GBR "coming soon"

Yes, I see what you mean. They appear to have replaced the 90s office style grids with a closed in Perspex cover design. To be fair, the original grid style ones do seem to be a dirt and dust trap on the Desiro design so it’s no bad thing to see them replace really!

Had a refurbished 170 both ways on the Matlock line on Saturday, they have done a good job with them, it'll be odd to finally see the end of the London Midland interior though when they are all done, 10 years after the London Midland franchise ended!

Quite, we’ve still got the South West Trains moquette around too, and they died in mid 2017.

Dressed in high visibility jacket, hard hat and safety boots for the walk from the chauffeur driven car up to the platform.

Went on a refurbed 158 last month - was overall very impressed given it was a light refresh however the lack of USBs was more shocking. I know some of them have USBs but consistency is key. Can’t think of many modern refreshes which don’t have plugs and/or USBs

Don't think they have wifi either, something we've become used to on most trains, although quality can be very patchy.

158799 has had the breakers installed in the cupboards for USB sockets so I expect they will be available/installed in the saloons at some point.

Is there an issue with 158783, it got moved to Etches Park on the 5th April on 5A57, and hasn’t returned to service since.
