While I do agree with the first point (few love the 350/2s over here) the 360s hardly do long journeys, indeed the 350/2s do rather longer ones. It's a medium distance commuter service, albeit one that has IC like fares for historic reasons (and I'd say it's the fares that are inappropriate, not the units).

People do in pretty much any context prefer 2+2 over 3+2, though, for which reason I agree it will be well received.

That might be true, but 2+2 offers bigger aisle space and easier walkthrough.

Very true. I wouldn’t mind 3+2 if the fares reflected a commuter/regional express level of service; but if I’m being charged an IC fare, I expect an IC product. Even if the route were only 20 minutes long end-to-end, passengers must get a suitable product for the price they pay.

Not to mention the 350/2s are in the process of being withdrawn, with their (eventual) successors featuring a 2+2 layout

Currently at Etches Park so I would suspect the Matlock's with the diagram that starts with the 0633 Derby-Matlock. The other 2 regional diagrams of Etches Park are 3 car 170's and 158's.

Suspect it will be later in the week. 170101 came out on Wednesday or Thursday after coming from Crewe.

There is indeed a refurbished 170 on the derwent valley line. Announcements are really loud though. Seats aren’t terrible to be fair. Train is now in pride livery

170501 is back out today, you'll find it on 1R70 NOT-LIV and 1L16 LIV-NOT, followed by 2A38 and 2A81
