EMR inventing new restrictions?

Below a list of cancellations for Tue-Fri this week. EMR have this note:
  • If you hold an 'Advance' ticket for a train listed above, you may use your ticket at no extra cost on East Midlands Railway services two hours earlier or two hours later than your original train.
Are they OK to restrict this leeway to Advance tickets only?

Flexible tickets will anyway be valid on the the trains before and after the cancelled ones. The only exception is if you have an off-peak ticket and the next one is in the peak, though I expect you'd face no problems taking the peak time train if the previous off-peak service was cancelled.

Obviously they cannot restrict you to within two hours of your original train if there is no later alternative within two hours of your original train. Although you may choose to travel earlier than booked, you don't have to and may not be able to.

The wording should be "the next available service or any service within two hours before or after your original train".
