Friday 13th March 2026 - London St Pancras to Sutton Parkway

Yesterday I had booked tickets to travel from London St Pancras (STP) to Nottingham (NOT) & Nottingham (NOT) to Sutton Parkway (SPK) 2 separate tickets
  1. STP Dep 13:35 Cancelled 1st Advanced £22.60
  2. NOT Arr 15:08
  3. NOT Dep 15:25 Anytime Day Sgl £3.50
  4. SPK Arr 15:56
In the end, my journey was as follows
  1. STP Dep 14:05
  2. NOT Arr 15:51
  3. NOT Dep 16:25
  4. SPK Arr 17:00

My arrival time was 64 mins later,
Question
Do I make a claim for the STP to NOT ticket only, or can I make a claim for the whole journey end to end, which I used 2 tickets?

You claim for the whole journey. In fact, most of the TOC websites now have a specific feature for entering a journey made using multiple tickets.

The cases where you wouldn't be able to claim for the whole journey are:
  • If you had less than 8 minutes between your timetabled arrival and departure in Nottingham, the connection would have been considered invalid (i.e. the railway believes you wouldn't have been able to make it even if you had arrived in NOT on time)
  • If you had chosen to break your journey in Nottingham and continue to Sutton Parkway later (or by a different mode, e.g. a taxi) then you can only claim for the delay you actually experienced - i.e. your 43 min late arrival at NOT - and not for the delay you would have experienced had you continued to Sutton Parkway
Neither of these apply to you, as you left 17 minutes for your connection, and completed the full journey through to Sutton Park in one go.
