EMR Connect - different journey times

Another question about the MML ......

Given that the 1647 EMR Connect from St Pancras arrives at Luton, having departed Luton Airport Parkway at 1709 .... (journey time to Luton 25 minutes)

Why does the 1717 and the 1747 departures hang around at Luton Airport Parkway for longer arriving at Luton at 1744 and 1814 (journey time 27 minutes) ? (sometimes if catching these services, they can hang around at Luton Airport Parkway for 6 minutes)

Also with the overheard power lines being upgraded and the EMR Connects being able to run at their full 110mph, will the timings be changed to factor this in - or is there a requirement to hang around at Luton Airport Parkway to help people with luggage etc? I know there is a buffer built in just in case it gets stuck behind a Thameslink but find it strange that a journey at 1647 and 1747 northbound has different journey times. Because Arriva decided to change their bus timetables from Luton Interchange, those 2 minutes now make a difference when in reality they shouldn't.

Neither of those trains actually need the extra running time, I suspect its an overhang from TL trains that either no longer run or have been re-timed. There is work being undertaken on the timetable of the Corby services, at some point in the future that time will get taken out to standardise the timetable across the day to improve the timetable in the Kettering area. Unfortunately that isn't likely to be until December 2024, although that could change.

I go to Oakham from Luton & the Schedule Change means i can NO longer get a Direct train to Nottingham from the Airport, adding in 15 minutes to my Journey & not to even mention about EMR always operating a limited service to Oakham & Melton Mowbray, I Have always wanted more trains to run that little section of the Birmingham-Peterborough Line, Just so I can save a few Minutes, Wether this will be a Class 222, 810 or a 360, wouldn't bother me (I bet Thameslink making their Extension into EMP & Sheffield would make it easier to travel to Oakham from Luton)

The 1717 (1Y47) and 1747 (1Y49) dont ‘hang around’ at Parkway. They are both due to arrive Parkway 2 minutes later, as both have 2 minutes pathing time added to keep them behind Thameslink services on the Fast Line. The relevant Thameslink service in front of 1Y47 doesnt actually exist (although it did in 2019), however the Thameslink service in front of 1Y49 does exist, it is 9R92. This is in the peak hour, when the Down Thameslink fasts double up, with the first one in each pair (that leave London 5 mins apart) a limited stop flyer than runs Fast line as far north as Leagrave or Bedford South Junction. The Corby runs down the second one of each pair by Radlett (where that Thamelink goes slow line), then catches up the first of the pair (the flyer) by Luton Airport, (by which time the flyer is just departing Luton Town station). That is also why the Thamelonk ‘flyer’ doesnt call at the airport.

You’re pretty unlikely to ever see a 360 pulling into either Melton Mowbray or Oakham…

I’m afraid I can’t make head nor tail of this. Thameslink is being extended to Sheffield!?

You’re pretty unlikely to ever see a 360 pulling into either Melton Mowbray or Oakham…

Though maybe for the World Pork Pie Making Championship and they need loco-hauled 360 services in order to deal with the huge crowds desperate to watch the competition. Either that or Melton Town FC is playing in the FA Cup Final and they need to get their fans to London
