Ok, I reckon leases will run out before May 2021 as EMR want them for the new timetable.

I'd be surprised if DfT would want/allow a newly electrified route to go live with no electric trains. There's also the fact that the 360s are essential for removing the non-PRM compliant HSTs from service. Going beyond next May (i.e. 17 months beyond the PRM deadline) would be hard to justify.

They will need to have time to be prepared for service at EMR so all of them would probably be over before May.

As the May changes were meant to happen in December i would imagine leases will be with EMR soon and then the remaining units are then leased to GA.

The lease transferred to EMR on 31 August, it’s in the GA franchise agreement.

So they’re subleased to GA at the moment I presume?

That’s true - the Corby service was meant to start next month, with all HSTs subsequently withdrawn. That hasn’t happened and despite the derogation, EMR are really feeling the pressure to remove their HSTs from service by May 2021...

I think that‘s been the usual result when some transfer or other turns out to be impossible. Seems sometimes that such delays are more likely than the original planned dates...

Well the 321/322s that will cover the 360 duties are not going to hit the MTIN that the 360s did or near it, so that means you're not going to be able to simply do a like for like replacement of a 360 with a 321 without needing to use a few more units daily that will be in theory be maintenance spares every day.

Saying that with the current suppression of demand, even when taking into account the inferior reliability of the other EMU units, with the 720s on the way and the fact there's been some 321/322s brought in, you'd hope GA wouldn't have any real shortages unless the MTIN of those 321/322s falls away more.

You say that, but the "native" 321s aren't bad as MTIN figures go, certainly better than the 720s are likely to achieve for a long time.

Might go and watch the 360 arrive at Kettering Stabling on Thursday. I see RTT has 360 movements between Kettering Stabling and Kentish Town beginning 14 December and continuing well into the new year Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know.

I am assuming this means that the testing of the OHLE is completed? Was certainly nice seeing 91s up here while it lasted.

Saw a 720 on test ( I assume ) yesterday at East Gate looks like Colchester to Clacton 1420 on RTT
Do they have 720 staying up here at Colchester or Clacton or do they go home to Ilford for a check up after a day out

Any news that Wellingborough and Kettering will get a reduction in the intercity fares charged when this downgrade of a service is introduced?

Is it really a downgrade? The 360s are getting fully refurbished to IC standards, so 2+2 in Standard and 2+1 in First. You’ll be getting up to 12 carriages at peak time too. To me, it seems like an upgrade, so by your logic you should be paying more!

Saw the /2s at OOC the other week with their pans down and switched off for the first time, guess we’ll be finding out their future soon...
