The first one has been cancelled but the other two on Saturday are 76084 going to Heaton Norris to work a charter train to Buxton then returning after detaching at Blackburn.

Interested to see from RTT that two steam locos pass Denton Junction a few minutes apart on Saturday morning, going in the same direction. How often does this happen anywhere on the main line? 76084 LE to Heaton Norris then 45690 taking water at Denton station then coupled up to the standard for the trip to Buxton.

Are we sure its not a diesel coming to bank the train around Buxton?

Yes.

If WCRC required a diesel it would be attaced at the rear of the stock from Carnforth.

the tour website advertises the train as being double headed from Preston.

Don't take everything you read on RTC's web site as gospel.
It's 45690 from Preston with 76084 attached from Heaton Norris Jn. to Buxton then back as far as Blackburn where it detaches and runs LE back to the ELR.
