It's been a bit of a marathon but I have completed re-linking all my railway walks web sites after being cut off by Photobucket some months back. Here is the link to the Ellon To Boddam track bed walks. Not easy walks as none of it has been made up as a trail. The stations were, Auchmacoy, Pitlurg (Block Station), Hatton, Cruden Bay (Block Station), Longhaven and Boddam.
The Boddam branch was a Great North Of Scotland branch line that branched off from Ellon station, on the Dyce to Fraserburgh and Peterhead route. The Boddam branch was built in 1896 but only lasted 30 odd years, closing to Passengers in 1932 and to freight in 1948 and picked up in 1950. After closure the branch was used as a long wagon store, with gaps for farm Crossings etc.
Cruden Bay was the main station where a grand Hotel and Golf Course was built with the Hotel and station being inked by a mile long electric tramway, being the most northerly electric tramway in the U.K. The two trams were built at Kittybrewster Loco Works. Both trams were found but one was a wreck and a single tram was fully refurbished from both and is on display at the Grampian Transport Museum at Alford.
