For EL journeys, quite a lot are new induced journey as the travel pattern for leisure has been changed a lot.

It’s busy in the peak with commuters too. But yes leisure is certainly up and you can see that at key stations like Tottenham Court Road throughout the whole day.

Southeastern have removed the via Sidcup Cannon Street loop services in the direction towards Crayford in the mornings (except one service) and the other way in the evenings, so the 6ph is being made up of via Bexleyheath loop services instead.

Going back to where the EL is also gaining passengers, it's also gaining custom from London Overground East London line passengers. ELL services from South London would tip out at Canada Water, but are busier to Whitechapel since the line opened.

Yep I've noticed that as well -- great shout.

I haven't been north of Whitechapel to see if there's any significant usage from stations south of Dalston Junction to the EL, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case, although Highbury & Islington for the Victoria and Northern City line is also an option for them.

In any case this strike should not be allowed to go ahead considering the high economic impact compared to unused rural and regional train services. Sort out a deal!

That's an odd take. If it's not disruptive, what's the point striking? You can't just force people to not be on strike because it's inconvenient (although the government is certainly trying). At worst, people will just use the routes they did before May such as Central / H&C and Jubilee lines & also Southeastern / Thameslink / Overground or not travel at all that day (maybe flip their one day WFH to Thursday if they can).

I would say it's quite politically damaging though to have a strike only a few months after opening.

Another distribution to this new line. For those of us living outside the core, it’s such an unreliable railway.

It's probably damaging for TfL but not so much the Mayor as he's unlikely to lose next year.

The Elizabeth line is the most punctual and reliable railway in the UK. Granted this data isn't for November onwards (yet) but reliability is still high.

There's been a few blips but honestly for a new railway that's not fully ready until May, it's in very good shape.

If The Elizabeth Line is unreliable, what's Avanti and Northern?

If anyone is impacted by this particular strike and needs travel advice then please post in the Trip Planning and Reports section.

TFL have also posted information about the strike which can be found here:

Elizabeth line strike - Thursday 12 January
A strike is planned on the Elizabeth line on Thursday 12 January.

If it goes ahead:

There will be no service on the central section of the Elizabeth line (Paddington-Abbey Wood)
There will be a reduced service on the east (Liverpool Street-Shenfield) and west (Paddington-Reading/Heathrow) sections of the line
East and west services will run from/to National Rail platforms at Liverpool Street and Paddington
Services may be changed or cancelled at short notice

Thanks

New strike action announced on the Elizabeth Line for 24/25th May. This is by Rail for London infrastructure (RfLI) staff so signallers are impacted.

A strike is planned on the Elizabeth line on Wednesday 24 May 2023.

If it goes ahead, there will be no service between Paddington and Abbey Wood and limited services on the east and west sections of the line.

Other TfL services will run as usual, but may be busier on the day of the strike.

Wednesday 24 May

  • No service between Paddington and Abbey Wood
  • No service to or from Whitechapel all day
  • Reduced service on the east and west sections of the line

8 trains an hour between Reading/Heathrow - Paddington & Liverpool Street - Shenfield.

Expected to be a good service by 0900 on Wednesday 25th.

Aren't they suppose to give two weeks notice or they did and it's only just been announced?

I imagine the offer is probably around the 5% mark in line with other places.
