Elizabeth Line Stations

Hi,

This might be a bit premature as I know the Elizabeth line is not open until next week. But I'll be travelling down to London next Thursday 26th and I need to get from King's Cross to Custom House. When I put the details into the TFL Journey planner it tells me to take the circle line to Moorgate and then walk to Liverpool Street to get on the Elizabeth line. But I was wondering if anyone knew why it doesn't suggest to change at Farringdon? As Farringdon is 2 stops closer than Moorgate on the circle line.

Google Maps has been updated to take into account the EL. This is a journey which has several options which all take roughly the same time; Google Maps suggests changing at Farringdon takes 28 mins whilst taking the H&C changing at Moorgate takes 27 mins. So really it is almost more down to which is due first, bearing in mind the H&C is only every 10 minutes - but Thameslink does also have some gaps, and is a longer walk at both Kings Cross (to get to St Pancras) and Farringdon.

No one has to leave the station at Farringdon to interchange as it can be made via the Thameslink platforms but it will involve a lot of stairs to go that way.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like it will be best for me to change at Moorgate then, as I'll have luggage with me, so less steps will be better. I used to travel via Bank and on to the DLR, so hopefully this should be easier.

H&C is only every 10 minutes

Is there not something approximately every 3 minutes on that section (the H&C and Circle every 10, and a relatively frequent Metropolitan line service)

Apologies, I was thinking of destinations further afield than Liverpool Street. For Moorgate/Liverpool St it's more frequent than that, although there is still a frustrating tendency for gaps to appear, in a way that seems to happen much less often on the Deep Tube.

I have checked for a journey from York to Canary Wharf and it does suggest a change at Farringdon.

One thing that me confused was why there was a cost difference to travel from King's Cross to Custom House using the Elizabeth line compared with the DLR. Then I realised it's because you have to exit the underground and then enter the Elizabeth line, so two separate journeys.

I'm confused here - the fare for King's Cross St Pancras to Custom House (EL) appears to be the same as the fare to Custom House for ExCeL (DLR) (3.60 peak, 2.90 off-peak)

That was what I expected it to be £2.90, but travelling via the Elizabeth line according to the City Mapper app the price is £5.40. The route it suggests is King's Cross to Moorgate, transfer to Liverpool Street, then the Elizabeth line to Custom House. I assume this is because you exit the underground at Moorgate, I guess there's no way to get to the Elizabeth line without leaving the station?

This makes no sense. Why would you exit at Moorgate and walk to Liverpool Street when the Crossrail platform connects the two?!

I think some apps need to have an update to deal with the possibility of the EL linking two different stations together!
