I have just notice they have ordered i believe ten new trains to cover the new extension to Old oak common station ( now about 2 years away ) . But i wonder if TFL will move any of the older trains to the C2C line . As most know here there are a lot of problems with the trains and the service . The C2C has been a real problem from the start ,even before they took over the line. All appears to start at the problems at Fenchurch st station and having to run the service from Liverpool st at weekend. Just have a feeling this be permanent now and not just at weekends . To help things there are at least two new bus services running now to help the crush of passengers using that line. This includes the new Number 351 extension from Chelmsford and the Harold Wood service to Basildon . Think it is too little too late !

None of the existing EL trains (a bespoke design, mind you) are being withdrawn or cascaded elsewhere. Besides, C2C introduced twelve brand new class 720s just a few years ago.

something is not working at C2C .Then again the previous company who had the contract had the same problems. Will That line end up as G B R at some point ? but whoever has that route there are problems that in my mind cannot be improved on. New stock perhaps is not the answer . Elizabeth line is a great success , but i been on that line at off peak times and the Reading trains are packed to the rafters , yet the Shenfield ones are not . I get on and off at Acton mainline from Shenfield with change at paddington . But i have notice too many are stopping at Paddington and then going back to base. ( this is why i think they are packed to the rafters ) When ever there is a problem ,which now happens most days now. More often than not the problem is at Heathrow terminus . Electrical problems ! Now going back a few years ago , i gather there was a worry about the amount of power needed to "power Heathrow city" . yes it is a City Perhaps this is why there are the electrical problems there. Heathrow consumed 271 GWH £81 million . Does this include the TFL line consumption ? They cannot run diesels anyway due to strict restriction on the ozone layer

Sadly the 345s are not being cascaded. I don't think they would even be allowed to run on the line given that they don't have toilets.

GREAT ! Just same old problem who ever takes over the running of C 2C The asks the question should there just be one railway company as it was from 1947. Then in recent years , Govt decided they make a bit of money by selling chunks of the railway network But owning the stations and the rail network and infrastructure . To me this has not worked and the proof it has not worked, with the Govt about to take over the railways again ( once the contracts run out ?? ) C2C was always on a loser anyway

TfL moving trains to c2c? c2c is nothing to do with TfL. You are making no sense whatsoever.

Could you expand?

c2c has been consistently in or around the top 3 most punctusl and reliable operators for over two decades.
If this is true ! Why was TFL and E C C forced to bring in new bus services to connect Upminster/ Harold Wood/ Brentwood to Basildon , The B1 goes to Basildon Upminster and laindon is every 15 mins and Sundays it is every 20 mins 351 from Chelmsford / Brentwood / Laindon /Basildon Hospital every hour Monday to Saturday you note the buses connect Laindon with Basildon . Oh yes and the number 9 service from Brentwood to Basildon via Billericay So why is there a need for the service in the first place ? When as you have said that C2C is a superb service Think we all know, there is a problem over crowding particular Upminster to Basildon . If that is one of the best punctual and reliable servies , what are the others like ? Oh yes, Elizabeth line with its over crowding at non peak times ,particular on the Reading line to Kent . There is an obvious need for it . But i have a feeling when those new towns start to be built on the Thames basin ,from Barking Creek to Southend , this will show the problems ,will not go away .(have they actually started ?) Will C2C or GBR be able to cope ? ,think that answers the question . Then we look at the increase of freight traffic from Barking Creek to Stratford and the new Freight terminal being built , near Barking Creek . This will have a knock on effect ,when it is finished.

Is the recasting of bus networks a sign that the railway isn't doing its job? Surely they serve different markets?

c2c (ex-Trenitalia), Greater Anglia (ex-Abellio) and Network Rail's Anglia route are now run by a joint leadership team as GBR | Anglia as an integrated alliance. Once GBR legally exists next year the three will be merged as a Business Unit.

One change already made (there's a thread somewhere) is that the Greater Anglia 720s and c2c 720s are being treated as a common fleet. This should start delivering for the c2c part because Greate Anglia has excess 720s for its post-Covid timetable, so my understanding is more 720s will be rostered to c2c, allowing more 357 operated services to run as 12-cars. It might mot become fully apparent until December because I imagine diagrams will need amended to assign the rolling stock better.

Genuinely no idea what you are trying to say, sorry.

I used c2c pretty recently for the first time in years; it feels like it needs a little spruce up, but other than that, I can't say its bad at all.

To link Chelmsford, Brentwood and Basildon, presumably. Not everyone is going to London, intra-county links are vital.

When as you have said that C2C is a superb service.
Superb is stretching it, but its the smallest network in the UK and relatively simple to operate.

C2C recorded a 93.2% punctuality rate (within 3 mins) in the period of Jan-Mar 26, that's better than every other operator in GB. And that's up. April 25 - Mar 26 is down slightly, but still 91.9% which is again, the best in the country. Followed by Greater Anglia (91.8%). So, the Elizabeth Line is ranked worse. Source is here (ORR).

Think we all know, there is a problem over crowding particular Upminster to Basildon

A bit of overcrowding between Upminster and Basildon is nothing compared to South East London in the peaks.

If that is one of the best punctual and reliable servies , what are the others like ?
Northerners would explode at that statement.

Having used the Grays via Rainham service, I noticed it was busier than I remembered. With Beam Park coming along and the doubling of planned housing at Barking Riverside (I think it's a mistake not to extend the DLR there), an increase in off-peak frequency would be ideal eventually for this route.

I think you're looking for a local Facebook rant group for this sort of thing, not a rail forum
