This morning at Paddington had to wait a while as 9W10 0552 Paddington - Shenfield was delayed by 20 mins as ECS move from depot encountered a fault. Does the infrastructure layout prevent 9U11 (Maidenhead - Abbey Wood) from proceeding in front of it normally ? Announcements at platform were vague, when it arrived we were told to allow pax off 1st ? Hopefully no one was on it from the depot !

It would depend where it had the fault. If the ECS service had the fault approaching Paddington, then 9U11 would likely have been routed onto the Eastbound line past the “point of no return”.

Services can get around onto the Westbound line and into Paddington platform A, but it would have to be a few signals back for that to be an available move.
