For most of its existence the LOR ran half its service through on to the L&Y at Seaforth & Litherland and occasionally some trains to Aintree and the L&Y for many years ran trains onto the LOR. So not a great island.

There was the Cruden Bay Electric tram, which ran from the station to the hotel about va mile away. It was the most northenly electric tram service in the U.K.

Both of them - the only way to get stock between North Clyde and South Clyde lines was to drag it via the City Union.

Just a thought, what about the Swansea & Mumbles Railway was electrified in 1928 at 650V DC. Admititedly it could be refered to as a Tramway at that time. Also there was the Burton & Ashby Light Railway which was electic from its opening in 1906 to 1927 when it closed.

What about the Grimsby & Immingham Light Railway ?

Still no electrification anywhere near Grimsby !

QJ says there were also the two 1905 built NER Bo-bo electrics that worked the Quayside branch from Manors in Newcastle, which definitely had a "crocodile" type of outline.

Thank you for your help. These in fact were the electric locomotives with that unusual outline, in question, that I had seen in the very old photograph.
