EKR- September 20th & 21st - EMU Days

Anyone who has even a slight interest in heritage Southern Electric Multiple Units, such as CEP's and EPB's, as well as MLV's, will love this event, which is a first for the East Kent Railway. The gala will feature many different combinations of EMU's, mainly hauled by a class 09 diesel.

The weekend will be on the 20th and 21st of September, so this is some early advertising, and will be an excellent weekend for anyone interested.

The EKR is situated in Shepherdswell, near Dover in Kent.

Will be a worthwhile event my friend... I cant think of any other events on that weekend, but I am most probably wrong.

A diesel gala at the Mid Norfolk Railway falls on the same weekend as this, its the only event I can think of.

Just slightly! :???: Diesel galas at Peak Rail & Wensleydale, Steam events at Embsay & the Severn Valley, and a 40 going to Kingswear!

I'll definetly be there, only got to come from Medway, first time there has been an event I want to go to and its convenient. Haven't been on a slam door since 2005, and that was back before I got interested in trains. Annoying when the things were there for you to see, but you didnt care about them at the time :mad:

on a slightly different note do you know if any of the EMUs are going to be running this weekend as I am free and may have made a visit.

I believe the 09 and EPB will be running one of the days... Believe it is Saturday. Cant guarentee this though.

Hi Josh,

I think this runs the same time as the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway Gala weekend.If so I be at Sittingbourne for the saturday and EKR on sunday.

Guys, I'll try and find out what is running as soon as possible. If not, it will be on the day. Pretty much all trains will be hauled by D4113 (09025) with alternating rolling stock.

From what I have heard, the new MLV 68008 may be out, but not running under its own power.

Wow, Bob is going to get all his trains out? Is there a clause in the ticket that says "Subject to hissyfits and bouts of 'They are my trains and you aren't playing' due to unstable owners" ?

I'm well miffed that I missed this. Was free on Sunday but loads of hassle getting out. Engineering works between Rochester and Rainham were the final nail in the coffin.

Whens the next time the Slam-Doors are getting out and about?

Shame, was a really good event.

I'll let you know on the dates of the next slam door outings, as I am unaware of any dates towards the end of the year.
