Started to use version 15 but performance is limited by my old PC which lacks power for both graphics and processing.

Result is some stuttering and poor rendering of some scenery eg tunnel entrances. But greatest issue is complete lack of rendering of track. Does this reflect a specific rendering issue, as I would have thought rendering rail traffic in motion would be more demanding on overall performance.

Perhaps priority is given to moving trains across the layout and there is insufficient power for anything else. However the problem is visible when the software initially loads a layout, even when nothing is moving!

I am now trying to find an older version of the software which is less demanding for a high spec PC.

Meanwhile, are there any EEP users who can advise as I dont really want to upgrade to a high performance system?

Tks.

You dont need a high performance system.

make sure all drives are upto date
plenty of hard drive or ssd storage
make sure screen refresh rate is set to highest Hz find this on setting-system-display-advanced display-choose a refresh rate
other then that recommended spec would be a very cheap gaming computer

Hello GTR33. Thank you for the info but my own PC is about 8 years old and has only about 25% of the performance of modern processors. However, it will not run the demo layout 'Spitzkehre_Lauscha_automatik_v7.anl3' which I originally ran with EEP v7. I wonder if the layout itself has since been updated and the version included on EEP 15 itself requires an upgrade in performance. But the lack of track rendering seems unusual, but is perhaps an immediate indication of inadquate performance.

As it seems obvious that my PC has insufficient power to drive this game, I have abandoned it in favour of Diesel Railcar Simulator. This also has performance specs generally in excess of my own PC, but at least runs well enough to get enjoyment and the rendering is continuous and almos complete, if a bit blocky. Otherwise the graphics are okay although they are limited within the game itself - nowhere near the realism of EEP and the major Rail sim products within the UK market, but overall within the game context passable.

I shall probably get a new PC within the next 12 months and I shall aim for a perfomance level which meets modern sim needs!

Regards
