It's still bad. Whether it was Eddie or Edward Stobart, both have played huge roles in the company and Edward will be as missed and Eddie would have been if the tables had turned.

Edward, helped build the company and ran it for a long time. before handing it over to I believe his son.

Had Edward Jnr lost interest in the company as it was growing & decided to get out? Or did the brothers fall out with each other?

Thanks for the correction on that one, I knew it was handed to a family member I wasn't sure if it was son or brother.

Very sad news. The transport industry within the UK is a very trying business to say the least. Edward did a superb job of progressing Stobbart to a monster of a business but it seems it may have cost him his life in the process. I'll be raising a glass tomorrow night in his memory. RIP

Out of respect, I am now listening to "I want to be an Eddie Stobart driver" by The Wurzels.

I was massively into wagons and the haulage industry when I was young, being practically brought up on the road in a Scania 112 (old school, real wagons back then). I used to think it really strange seeing Stobart drivers in ties.

He was a great believer in presentation standards and the effect that they could have on company business. He was absolutely, 100 percent correct in this belief. If your drivers and trucks look dirty and not well kept, it reflects on your business. Quite right too!

That's all very true but to a 9 year old, it looked a bit poncy. Wot, no checked shirts and jeans with bleached edge holes in them from chemical work? Must be mad!

mbonwick, 90019 is right, its a DAF95 XF space cab on a 55 plate, however she was withdrawn from service on Thursday along with 3 other identical DAF's and 10 Scanias (various Toplines & Highliners), they were replaced with 14 brand new 11 Reg Scania R440 Highlines...... and i was lucky enough to get one!

All you need now is a slight amount of tuning and the R440 will sound GREAT!
