I think the station Brewdog was one of the few to survive and if you don't mind a Spoons there is one at the top of the entrance/exit ramp.
..in part of the old station buildings. As usual with Spoons in heritage buildings they explain some of the history inside.

A good start, leaving shortly and read there's disruption in the midlands (signalling) affecting Avanti trains northbound. On an Advance so I'll see what happens...

They've started sending the Class 9s (Euston - Birmingham - Scotland) direct via the Trent Valley, avoiding Birmingham. The 1240 Euston to Edinburgh is going via the Trent Valley.

Therefore presumably they'll have to sit at Stafford waiting for time.
Well, the 1240 is 44 down at Milton Keynes, so probably not much waiting time at Stafford ;)

Other services might need to I suppose, I don't know which train @Howardh is travelling on though.

1741 from Preston to Glasgow; hopefully it's all sorted by then and any delay is slight! Leaves Euston 1530 and I think it's avoiding Birmingham anyway.

Yes, that's booked via the Trent Valley anyway.

I erroneously assumed from the thread title, you were travelling on a train bound for Edinburgh!

Apologies!

Carlisle - staying overnight then Edinburgh on Saturday then back to Carlisle! Saving literally a couple of hundred on hotel bills!
