Hi all,

I'm just curious whether anyone knows more, about a reported incident which has happened at Edinburgh?

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/sa238156e1e64527bd167f145708b265/details.html

Emergency services are dealing with an incident at Edinburgh station.

Because of this, trains on all routes to and from Edinburgh are being delayed by up to 40 minutes. There is currently no estimate for a normal train service to resume.

Scotrail, First TransPennine Express and Virgin Trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow / Motherwell / Carlisle / Stirling / Dundee / Inverkeithing may start from and terminate at Haymarket.
There are currently no ScotRail trains between Edinburgh and North Berwick. Customers should speak to staff or use station help points to request alternative transport.
ScotRail services are able to run between Edinburgh and Newcraighall.
East Coast and CrossCountry services between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh are being held awaiting events at Edinburgh.

Thanks for any info. :)

It looks like someone has come into contact with the overhead within the station, and an isolation was required to recover them back to ground level.

It was a 28 year old homeless man, looking for some shelter.
Climbed up some scaffolding & brushed his leg against the live OLE.
Severe burns & stable in hospital.

Sad to hear, but glad he's OK. Sounds like a very nasty incident.

Thank you for the updates.

Very pleased to learn that his injuries whilst serious are not life threatening.

Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

Looking for shelter .. on a roof?

There are a lot of rafters and girders at Waverley where someone might be able to sleep undetected. It does seem silly though.

Not to mention all the scaffolding and access platforms that are in place at the moment.

I am surprised how he could have managed to get access to the scaffolding.
Last time i was in the station there was numerous hoardings to prevent access.
Any workers access points are gated & secure.

There is always a weakness somewhere in any security or safety system. You do your best to make things foolproof, but fools are incredibly resourceful.
