DM is a twitterism. It means Direct Message. You have to be mutual followers to be able to DM on twitter so it's common to have to ask first on the public interface.

What troubles me is not the issue of the Standard Fare- we all make mistakes- but the fact Edinburgh Trams were adamant it was correct when the OP rang them.

Fair point Although again it's easy to see how a misunderstanding could occur over the phone. Hopefully the OP will have more luck with the complaint in writing.
