Edinburgh to London - September 19/20th

Hi all,

Looking to come down to London next Saturday via train with the wife.

Looking at the rail travel booking site, it would appear that LNER services between Newcastle and Scotland (so i assume cross country too) are operating at a reduced service due to maintenance but also, West Coast main line between Euston and Watford is closed due to a bridge repair.

Am I fecked for getting down and back on the train??

No, but it will take longer than usual.

@vinoboxer. Not necessarily. Believe LNER are still operating hourly through trains between Edinburgh Waverley and London Kings Cross next weekend (Saturday 19th September 2026 / Sunday 20th September 2026) just that they will be routed via Carlisle with extended journey times. Avanti look to still be running a more normal service from Glasgow Central/Edinburgh Waverley to London Euston via Preston on Saturday, albeit on the way back up North on Sunday, they'll be running later than usual.

West Coast main line between Euston and Watford is closed due to a bridge repair.

It's Sunday only on WCML to *remove* said bridge at bushy.
One might say its a bridge remedy rather than repair. (Chuckles)
