Whenever I see matters such as this, where the ownership of the company passes from one relative to another and the company itself appears to be in sound financial standing, I wonder if any internal family pressure was exerted upon Eddie Stobart to pass ownership to his brother after 30 years as group Managing Director.

After this amount of time, he should have ensured that not only was the pension annuity was of a very substantial figure and that his personal assets would have been considerable.

All that The Stobart Group would say was that Eddie Stobarts financial affairs were a "private matter". A bland statement as this can hide a multiplicity of questions that could be asked.
