ECR - Clapham Junction 27th Dec

i cant seem to find any fast trains ECR - Clapham Junction on 27th Dec, they all seem to be stopping services??

Well, there seems to be a direct service at 0636 ... and at 2109.

Probably linked to the major engineering work between Purley and Gatwick Airport. No trains will be going south of Purley on the main line.

I was just looking through from 0700-1200. Looks like I need to take a day off work I understand that works need to be carried out but it makes commuting over Xmas a nightmare!

PS: with a 1st class ticket and no trains with 1st class do I get a refund if I use it?

I take change very badly so get angry and mad when there are delays and cancellations.

Plus those train around 7-8am dont have 1st class so do I get a refund?

I don't want the following to sound like a rant, but this makes me quite cross, I'm afraid.

If well-publicised extra stops to trains, planned months in advance (hardly constituting "delays and cancellations"), make you angry, I suggest you stop using trains...

The trains will be busy and slower, but it is to ensure everyone gets a service. Doubtless you'd be glad if you lived somewhere like Norbury (etc.). There will be lots of extra staff to assist & ticket acceptance on many alternative routes, including SWT to Waterloo on that day.

I do appreciate the inconvenience; in fact, I will be affected, like many others. The changes to your journey whilst safety improvements are made & renewals carried out are actually comparatively minor compared to what people South of East Croydon will face. Deal with it, or do take the day off!

SWT are running into Waterloo everyday between Christmas and New Year, with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day of course. There are limited platforms available at Waterloo, so the service is thinned out somewhat. Platforms 1-9 are the platforms closed.

Its not like its been advertised everywhere for the last month about the Xmas works.
Its the ideal time to do it. No one likes them, bar train crew But StoatsNest junction (near purely) is in dire need of replacement.

Could always take a fast train from East Croydon to Victoria, and enjoy the scenic delights of Tulse Hill and Brixton.
Then take a fast train from Victoria to Clapham Junction.....
(They will also have first class on as they run to Gatwick, via Sutton and Horsham).

I might have to do that. I dont like the stopping service stopping at stations like Norbury and Streatham Common, too many dodgy people might get on.

I think you're being a bit harsh, why should it annoy you? You have no business in this person's matters, if he takes change very badly then it has nothing to do with you quite frankly.
