Does anyone have any timings for the ECML diversions this Sunday?

Great site, I wasn't aware of it. Thanks very much.

Was going to head out to photograph one of them, and I'm torn between the 0020 one or getting up in the middle of the night for both the 0342 and 0411 ones. I'm concerned that the 90 won't stop in a place where it's easy to photograph though, as the entire consist is pretty massive.

According to http://www.class90electriclocogroup.co.uk - this is what's hauling tonight's diversions:
Scotrail Sleeper Diversions via ECML

Northbound

The Highland sleeper (1s25) will be dragged from Euston to Wembley by 900xx with 900xx DOR. The train will then continue to Edinburgh by 900xx.
The Caledonian sleeper (1s26) will be dragged from Euston to Wembley by 67017 with 90019 DOR. The train will then continue to Glasgow via Edinburgh by 90019.
Southbound

The Highland sleeper (1m16) will be taken from Edinburgh to Wembley by 90026. On arrival at Wembley the train will continue into Euston by 900xx with 90026 DOR.
The Caledonian sleeper (1m11) will be taken from Glasgow via Edinburgh to Wembley by 90039. On arrival at Wembley the train will continue into Euston by 67017 with 90039 DOR.

I guess 900xx denotes no allocation as yet, but from the fleet list it looks like it can only be one of the three currently at Wembley

DBS

90018 at Crewe on maintenance
90019 at Wembley allocated to 5s96, 1s26
90020 at Crewe on maintenance
90021 at Mossend
90024 at Crewe on maintenance
90026 at Edinburgh allocated to 1m16
90028 at Wembley
90029 at Wembley spare
90035 at Mossend
90036 at Wembley
90039 at Mossend allocated to 1m11

I'm tempted to go out and try and get a photo, and there's a good chance it'll be either 036 in the old RFD experimental livery or 029 in it's new DB colours. Chances are if I go out though it'll be 028!

I notice there are stops at Doncaster, Newcastle and Alnmouth - it doesn't say but are these actual scheduled stops or just for crew changes?

Ooh, my own site :)

Silly question - why doesn't the Sleeper just run from Kings Cross rather than slowly winding its way, for about an hour, the equivalent of a ten minute walk down Euston Road?

That'll confuse all the passengers - I wonder how many of them know they went a different route last night? :P

Maybe it could be due to the crew/supplies/equipment/long enough platforms only being at Euston or something!

Surely Platform 1 and 6 at Kings Cross can still take the sleepers after all weren't they the only platforms able to take the North of London Eurostar's when GNER hired them in?

And at that time of the morning I doubt Kings Cross will have all platforms full of trains.

Train too long for platforms?

That is the only reason I could come up with.

*turns to Sectional Appendix*

The longest platform at KGX is platform 1, at 294.6 metres, and at Euston, the longest is also 15 at 402 metres, but platform 1 comes in at 398 metres.

From memory, I think the Highland Sleeper arrives in Euston platform 1 and departs from platform 15.

I guess that answers the question.
