ECML Signals Broken at Newark 3rd Jan / EC Website Problems

Were East Coast offering something special today or something? I just went to their website and there's a message apologising "for the current problems we are experiencing due to a high number of visitors on the site today". I'm not sure why that would be?

Probably people looking for information. There was an amended timetable today and it would have been one of the busiest days of the year for long distance travel. Several trains were delayed due to high winds and/or an "unusually large passenger flow" - unusually large, yes, but also foreseeable!

Particularly frustrating as there's little information on the delays around Newark.

Question though....looks like they are chucking people off the trains at Newark...so people are going to be stuck in 40mph winds at the most bleak place on earth - Newark North Gate - till East Coast decide to pick people up and continue their journey??

I'm sure there is a good enough reason for doing so (signalling problems by the looks of it) - I don't think EC would just dump a load of people at a station just for the hell of it.

Delays of up to one hour on EC services north of Newcastle.

Just got on at Doncaster at about 1pm. Chaos everywhere. Nothing is going North of Newcastle today and EC are finding random trains to send southbound calling all stations. Signalling problems at Newark not helping. My train has a fault so if you are behind me (on a 1300 out of Doncaster) expect further delays. Needless to say the on board wifi is frozen.

Signalling problems at Newark now appear to be fixed as we just passed through there at normal speed on late-running 1157 Newcastle to Kings Cross. Wifi is working on my train!

Just done KGX-PBO on FCC. Bang on time and lovely sunny weather. However not a single EC has gone past and I've seen three going to KGX. I reckon EC are building up the sets at KGX to cope with evening rush hour.

Looking at EC's website it looks like the Leeds to Kings Cross and vice versa service will be one an hour for at least the next few hours rather than the usual half hourly service.

Grand Central's 1N90 made its arrival into York a very impressive 200+mins late.
By this time the set should have made it to Sunderland, shunted to Pelaw and then have been at Eaglescliffe with 1A65!!!
