ECML: Northumberland - Update

It's been a while since I've posted a progress report - so here goes....

Real Life got in the way of my proposed Summer 2007 release date - we moved house further up the Tyne Valley, to Prudhoe. So progress with the route was a bit slower than anticipated.

As of today, the route is complete in terms of scenery from MetroCentre as far as Chathill; signalling to Heaton.

Yes, Damon, it should be very recognisable, as the signalbox and station building use photo-textures; the portacabins are a "generic" one, in reasonably correct positions (thanks to Google Earth);

Remind me, where will it run to/from?

There will be 156/158 runs from MetroCentre to Morpeth and MetroCentre to Chathill and Crag Mill Loop; HST/220 runs Newcastle to Berwick (with significant stretches of 125mph running north of Alnmouth); and other traction to simulate other runs.

We've moved to Castlefields, to the south of the SCA factory, but as the wind tends to be westerly, we don't suffer at all.

I took earlier comments on board (yours?). The track is based on a RouteBuilder track, with a brand new ballast texture. How would you like to see it improve?

Sounds great, really looking forward to it. My Class 142 will be available before this route I expect, so perhaps some diagrams there too.

Just my view on the track. I think in this particular route the track looks very good. I'm still not a fan of the track in Tyne Valley, but in this route I think it looks well. Perhaps some textured railhead would finish it off?

Also, will the route have working BVE4 mainline signals and gantry? I noticed in Tyne Valley that a lot of the signal poles are standard RouteBuilder ones...IMHO these could be improved by using some of the signalling objects from NWM or alike.

wow! Thats absolutely amazing. The extensive use of photorealistic textures have really brought the line to life! The route's realism has really moved on alot since the first version a few years back. I will definately look forward to drive it.
