ECML Goods to passenger use

Anyone know when they are going to start using the goods lines between Alexandra palace and Finsbury park for passenger trains.

Lots of track-work activity last few months on the goods track between Alexandra palace and Finsbury park.

Commencement was part of the NR announcement I linked to a couple of days ago, in the thread headed 'Finsbury Park'. They reckon '2013' for the new (ie reopened) platform.

Meanwhile the date for completion (Grip stage 6) shown in the NR enhancement plan is Dec 2013.

Are those the lines that were used when the overheads were being replaced at Finsbury Park a few months ago? The trains crawled through the area/

on a similar note, does anyone know anything about the extra freight thats supposed to come along the Durham Coastline? There doesn't seem to be anymore than before the signalling upgrade.

The scheme provides for a 3rd Up passenger line from Alexandra Palace (leading off from the Up Hertford
line to the north of Alexandra Palace station) through to the top of Holloway Bank with associated platform
faces at Alexandra palace and Finsbury Park. This allows some Hertford/Gordon Hill to Moorgate inner
suburban services to operate independently of outer suburban services and Long Distance High Speed
(LDHS) services from Alexandra Palace.
The scheme reduces a constraint in developing ECML timetables thereby allowing an increase in LDHS
services as part of a programme of ECML schemes as identified in the ECML Route Utilisation Strategy.
This programme would allow an increase in services with an improvement in performance even though
more trains would be operating. As the rolling stock on existing franchised LDHS services cannot be
lengthened, additional services are required to support the increased passenger kilometre HLOS metric
for route 8 for longer distance journeys to/from London. In addition, the scheme will also reduce pathing
time in some Up outer suburban and LDHS services approaching Finsbury Park, thereby providing some
improved journey times.

I assume this means that trains using this line wouldn't be able to call at Hornsey or Harringay? Will that mean recasting the services so that only trains to/from Welwyn GC serve Hornsey & Harringay?

Perhaps it'll be used for services that already skip Harringay and Hornsey.

They hope to add extra platforms at those stations in CP5, but that isn't part of the current project.

I don't think it means that. I'd suggest reading it as if it said:

Subtle difference - but possibly more accurate?

I read it as "Long Distance High Speed (LDHS) services from Alexandra Palace" -- 'from' implying calling at! :P

The 07:33 London Moorgate to Hertford North doesn't serve Harringay or Hornsey as it runs fast between Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace via Ferme Park as does the 08:03 London Moorgate to Hertford North to name just two services.
