I posted a thread on this in another area although I was actually trying to find route the diversion route used.
I'm on the 9.05 out of Leeds that day to P'Boro which is not affected but my return journey to Leeds at 15.08 is badly affected. It's taking an extra two hours to reach Leeds which is just crazy imo.
I don't know exactly what work is going on but i've got a feeling all trains that day between Leeds and P'Boro are going to be dry so that has added to my anger.

they are running via Lincoln and will have to couple/un couple a diesel at Peterbrough and Donny i would assume
The Temporary timetables posted on the EC website show that the Scotland/Newcastle/London KX service will be operated by HSTs and travel non-stop between Doncaster and Peterborough via Gainsborough, Lincoln and Spalding.
But in order to minimise bustitution and serve Retford and Newark, the Leeds-London KX service will be 91-hauled to Newark, then be dragged via Lincoln and Spalding to Peterborough, then electrically hauled again into KX.
Similar arrangements appear for the opposite direction. Hence KX-Leeds timings are much longer, allowing not only for the diversion via the Joint line but also for attaching/detaching diesel locos.
So the block is between Newark and Grantham.
Incidentally, last year when this diversion was in place, I gather Hull Trains served Grantham by travelling Doncaster, Retford, Newark [reverse] Lincoln, Sleaford [reverse], Grantham and then directly to KX, with considerably-extended journey times. Is this happening again this year?
Also, does anyone know if both Sleaford avoiding lines have been returned to use for this year's diversions? IIRC, nothbound trains had to travel through Sleaford station last year, adding further congestion at the level-crossing at the station!

Welshman...I believe the diversions this year will broadly follow those of this time 2010. Hull trains reversed at Sleaford and thus served Grantham in both directions, but I still don't know where or what type of work is taking place! All I know is it's between Grantham & Newark.
I don't think the northern section of the Sleaford avoiding line is open but I haven't been down there since last years diversions...I'll check later..
With the proposed closure of the Sleaford East LC tied in with a new Tesco development NR don't really need to re open the avoiding line

Northbound avoiding line remains a weed infested, rust caked mess, so doubt anything will happen within the next 10 days!!
(I thought there was a rail overbridge that needed strengthening/replacing?)
A lot of infrastructure work going on in the area just now:
1) A17/Boston road - work starts here October 19th ready for start of construction of straw fired power station.
2) Sleaford leisure centre (in a very nice spot by riverside) £2.65 Million facelift including piping waste steam for pool heating frtom power station.
3) Tesco have planning permission to build new supermarket a few hundred yards from the East LC Skeggie direction. Involves closing Sleaford East LC (NR say this crossing most dangerous in the country!!!) erection of new vehicular overbridge in same area plus footbridge to provide access to station and southern end of Sleaford.
As you can imagine, local press having a field day especially with Sleaford Town Council now refusing to sell a crucial parcel of land forming part of the Boston Road recreation ground (the route of the new road accessing Tesco/Grantham Road.

You should be ok on the way up to Leeds on that drink with beer will be ones from 5pm that normally would be dry.

What is a pity is that East Coast have cancelled the direct Kings Cross - Lincoln service while this engineering work is taking place.
Yet they will have a virtually hourly service passing through Lincoln station during the diversionary period - according to TRUST, some of them are even stopping there. But the stops are pathing (therefore unadvertised) stops only, and the doors will not be unlocked. You would have thought they could arrange for at least one train to make an advertised stop there, even if only to set down, so Lincoln passengers couldn't benefit from a decent inter-city service northbound.
