Reports of a fatality on the line somewhere, no idea where. It's chaos at King's X right now, what with it being the tail end of the morning rush. It looks like if you wish to travel to Edinburgh you're looking at 4 different trains.
Anyone got any more info?
Thoughts are with anyone involved, should it turn out to be a fatality

A person has been hit by a train at Welham Green causing delays of up to 60 minutes to journeys between London Kings Cross / Moorgate and Stevenage.

Information suggests the person dropped something onto the track at Welham Green and went down onto it to reclaim the item, but sadly couldn't get out of the way of an approaching train.

Yes, we were told the driver of the FCC confirmed this, very sad.

I took the 10:25 from Newcastle this morning and no disruption was apparent at any point.

That went through the area at about 1330 so the incident had been cleared for an hour and a half by that time!

There was a passenger I witnessed doing the same at Platform 14 of Manchester Piccadilly on Monday...thank goodness no services were due.

A tragic incident, seemed to be well handled and the railway was soon re-opened, thoughts obviously to all involved.

Kings Cross seemed fairly calm compared to the previous week's weather disruption, very minor impacts to EC departures and FCC were the only TOC to suffer a great deal of disruption due to displaced sets and drivers.

It wasn't a tragic accident, it was simply a suicide - from what I understand the person parked their car at Welham Green then proceeded to climb though a gap in a fence to access the railway before getting hit by a train.

To say it was a accident as they had dropped something on the track is misleading!

Not sure where your info comes from but it isn't correct I'm afraid. It was an accident, and infront of his family. And this info comes straight from the driver involved (not me). He dropped something on the line and picked it up and was like a rabbit in the headlights, just frozen watching the train, when the fast train came round the blind bend.

Driver involved has plenty of support on offer at the moment.

Very sad case and although getting on the track is a stupid idea this was a very tragic thing to happen on a family day out.

How horrific for his family and the driver too. Yes the internal emails at EC did directly quote the driver, but didnt mention his family being there.

No disrespect, but Im fairly sure the driver who was involved in this tragic incident would probably know first hand what happened over other members of railway staff. Possibly a case of them having incorrect information.

Regardless of how it happened, a family has lost a loved one and my thoughts are with them and the driver - shocking.

Whether it was suicide (which seems pretty unlikely given the information available) or a tragic misjudgement, it was still a fatality. For "HLE 13", the word "fatality" means that someone died. It might also be nice if people would accept the weight of evidence and, crucially, have a bit of sensitivity with respect to the driver by not contradicting him/her on the basis of a rumour.
